About this workshop
Step into the world of studio photography! In this workshop, you will explore what seems like
By the end of this course, you will have the foundation needed to delve into studio photography. This beginners course will give you the necessary skills and knowledge that will be useful for portraiture, product photography, family, food, and wedding photography. Some of the things you will learn in this workshop are:
- Understanding Light
- Continuous light vs flash
- Metering light
- High key vs low key setups
- Lighting patterns
- Composition
- Using reflectors
- Posing & directing models
 
Pre-requisites: You must be 100% comfortable in :
 
 
- Shooting in MANUAL
- Know the basic relationship between shutter speeds, aperture and ISO settings
- Focusing
- White Balance
- Metering Types
If your current knowledge in photography does not include these pre-requisites, we highly recommend you attend the Beginner and Intermediate Photography Workshops first.
 
Here's what you will learn:
• Lighting Patterns (Learn basic lighting patters, such as butterfly (beauty) lighting, split, side and feathered lighting)
• Types of light (Explore the differences between soft and specular light)
• Posing and directing models (Learn how to work with models. How to pose, direct, the "do's and don'ts", understanding body types and which poses to choose from.)
• Different types of light modifiers (Know the differences between, umbrellas, softboxes, beauty dishes, octas and many more kinds of light modifiers. )
• Metering (Learn how to measure light using light meters and why we use the light meter)
• Reflectors (The uses for reflectors. why, when, how and which reflector to use).
 
What to bring with you
 
 
- Your camera, regardless of brand and model (DSLR or Mirrorless)
- Spare batteries and a charger
- At lease 2 memory cards
- A kit lens (preferably a zoom lens that has a range of 18mm to 55mm
- A telephoto or portrait lens (eg. 70-200mm)
- 5 pictures you'd like critiqued and discussed
- Food (coffee/tea and bagels along with lunch (a selection of vegan, gluten free and non vegan options will be provided and included in the price. If you wish to bring your own lunch, please feel free to do so at your cost)
- A cleaning kit (if you have one)
